Manoj Tiwary, former Indian Cricketer announced his retirement from all the formats after he led Bengal in Ranji Trophy 2024. But unfortunately, the team couldn’t move ahead the league stage.
Tiwary’s stellar career has had a lot of secrets it seems as the cricketer has been making big revelations since he put an end to his career. He has completed 10,000 runs in FC cricket further he has played 3 T20Is and 12 ODIs for Team India. The biggest revelation he made was when he blatantly questioned MS Dhoni as to why was he dropped from the Indian Team despite scoring a match winning century against the West Indies in 2011.
In 2012, the 38-year old was also a part of KKR which also won their title in the same year. Tiwary opened up about the fight he has with Gautam Gambhir which further led to his release from the squad and that caused a wound to his bank balance as well.
Tiwary stated that the incident took place in 2013 and before 2014 IPL he was released, this caused a big hole in his pocket as well as he could’ve earned a lot more money if played some more seasons.
“During my time at KKR, I had a big fight with Gambhir in the dressing room. That never came to light. KKR became the champion in 2012. At that time, I managed to hit four, so the team won. I got a chance to play for KKR one more year. Had I not fought with Gambhir in 2013, maybe I would have played for another two-three years. That means the amount I was supposed to get as per the contract would have gone up. Bank balance would be strengthened. But I never thought about that,” Manoj Tiwary told Anandabazar Patrika.

Misunderstanding with Delhi Daredevils (now DC) that led to his departure
Manoj Tiwary opened up about his miscommunication with Delhi Daredevils as he was acquired for 2.8 crore during the 2014 IPL auction, but due to the misunderstanding he was released from the franchise.
“Gary Kirsten was the coach when I played for Delhi Capitals. I was seeing in front of my eyes in one match after another that the first eleven was not going well. The combination was not correct. Eligible cricketers were not getting a chance to play. Many were out due to injuries. The results of the team were not good. I went straight and said, leave me if you can’t put me in the XI. My contract then was INR 2.8 crore. I never thought that if I said this, they would misunderstand me and leave me. Never thought of my loss,” Tiwary concluded.
