The fourth Test between India and England was a gripping encounter, with the hosts winning 3-1 in Ranchi on Sunday to seal the series. Dhruv Jurel sparkled with the bat once more as India triumphed by five wickets.

However, Shubman Gill and Jurel came to the home team’s rescue with a sixth-wicket unbroken partnership of 72 runs, propelling them over the finishing line.

To make matters worse, this is the first time England has lost three consecutive Tests.
Since 2013, this is India’s first successful 150-plus chase. The last time this occurred was against Australia in Delhi in March 2013, when India won by six wickets.
At home, India has had to chase 200 in 33 different occasions. They have 30 wins and three draws.

India let up a 46-run first-innings advantage in Ranchi. They overturned the seventh-largest first innings lead when batting second in Tests to win. The Ranchi Test is also the 13th occasion India has triumphed batting second after losing a first-innings lead.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has scored 971 runs in his eight Test appearances. These are the most runs scored by an Indian hitter after eight Tests, surpassing Sunil Gavaskar’s 938 runs. The teenage opener has also scored the second-most runs of any batsman in the first eight Tests, after only Don Bradman’s 1210.
At only 23 years and 33 days old, Dhruv Jurel became the fifth-youngest wicketkeeper to win the Player of the Match award, as well as the second-youngest Indian player. Ajay Ratra won the award against West Indies in 2002 at the age of 20 years and 148 days.
Rohit Sharma scored 55 runs in the chase, his greatest fourth-innings score in Tests. Prior to this hit, he had only one 50-plus score in first-class cricket, in the fourth innings. He scored 52 against Australia in the 2021 Sydney Test.
India’s Nos. 4 and 6 hitters scored only four runs in the fourth innings in Ranchi, the fewest by any side in a successful run chase in Tests. The previous low was 12 by New Zealand vs West Indies in 1980.
The fifth and final Test match is set to commence on March 7 at Dharamshala. With pride at stake, England will be looking for a consolation victory. Meanwhile, India plans to experiment with their playing XI.
