2025 Pharmasave U20 Provincial Championship Recap

The 2025 Pharmasave U20 Provincials took place at the Highland Curling Club in Regina, SK on February 5-9, 2025.

Women’s Team Rosters:

The event began with Opening Ceremonies and a Players Social!

 

WOMENS EVENT: 

The women’s event was a triple knockout event with four teams qualifying for playoffs. One team from the A-Event, one team from the B-Event, and 2 teams from the C-Event. Team Beausoleil faced Team Fonstad in the A qualifier, where Team Beausoleil picked up the 7-3 win. In the B-Event qualifier, Team Fonstad faced Team Johnston and picked up the 11-5 win. The C event qualifiers was Team Pomedli VS Team Semeniuk, where Team Pomedli won 10-2, and Team Johnston VS Team Simpson, where Team Johnston stole 3 in the 10th end to secure the 8-6 win.

In the playoffs, Team Beausoleil faced Team Fonstad in the AvsB game where Team Beausoleil booked their spot in the final with a 9-5 victory. In the other playoff game, Team Pomedli defeated Team Johnston 5-4 and advanced to Sundays semi-final. In the Semi-Final, Team Pomedli defeated Team Fonstad 12-4 and advanced to the 2:00pm final. In the final, it was Team Beausoleil who, after a measure, picked up a steal of 1 and the victory! Team Beausoleil also went undefeated through the entire event! Congratulations ladies!

Congratulations to skip Ava Beausoleil, third Annika Steckler, second Leah Beausoleil, lead Hannah Rugg, alternate Mya Silversides and coach James Malainey from the Nutana Curling Club.

They will represent Saskatchewan at the 2025 New Holland U20 Canadian Championships in Summerside, P.E.I. on March 22-30!

 

MENS EVENT: 

The men’s event was a 6 team Round Robin with the top 3 teams advancing to the playoffs! After the round-robin, the standings were as follows:

Team Record
Derksen 5-0
Snow 4-1
Heisler 3-2
Tessier 2-3
Moulding 1-4
Weiss 0-5

 

In the playoffs, Team Derksen faced Team Snow, where Team Derksen picked up the 7-6 victory and booked a spot in Sundays final. In the semi-final, Team Snow defeated Team Heisler 7-6 and faced off against an undefeated Team Derksen in the final. Team Derksen kept their undefeated streak going in the final, defeating Team Snow 9-4 and claiming the green jackets and provincial title!

Congratulations to skip Dylan Derksen, third Logan Sawicki, second Tyler Derksen, lead Gavin Martens, and coach Garnet Zummack from the Martensville Curling Club.

They will represent Saskatchewan at the 2025 New Holland U20 Canadian Championships in Summerside, P.E.I. on March 22-30!
