Lefkara Festival brings music, culture and art to village
Lefkara village does not really need any promotional help. There are plenty of reasons to go but every summer, the Lefkara Municipality adds one more – a nine-day festival in the heart of the village. Get ready for live music, theatre, street food, arts and crafts and charming village sightseeing.
From August 10 to 17 and on August 24, the 42nd edition of the Lefkara Festival will bring more buzz to the village. Apart from its charming agrotouristic stays, hotels, workshops, taverns and cafés, the village will welcome a series of entertaining activities and performances this month as part of the annual festival.
The opening ceremony on August 10 will include a concert dedicated to great Greek and Cypriot composers, accompanied by the Lefkara choir. An embroidery and silversmithing exhibition will also open this day and will run throughout the duration of the festival.
There will be lots more to enjoy this year, including a bridge competition, at 3pm on August 11, local theatre performances and music and dance shows. Also happening is the Lefkara Street Food Festival which will bring together villagers, foodies, families and visitors on August 11 from 6pm onwards. Held at the primary school’s courtyard, street food vendors will set up stands and trucks serving tasty bites.
Another highlight of the festival will be the Kaseta Retro Event on August 16 with a concert by Constantinos Christoforou and ONE and DJs Anagiotos and Scoulos. While the festival has free entrance, this is a ticketed event with the presale now on from www.soldoutticketbox.com. Then on August 17 an outdoor cinema will be set up at the school, before the festival ends on August 24 with a charity event.
