FIA Driver Categorisation Appeals Complete: Al Harthy & Bovy Back To Bronze, Gelael Back To Silver
The FIA Driver Categorisation process for 2024 appears to be completed with the release today of confirmation of the results of a variety of appeals against re-categorisation decisions made for the coming season.
Amongst the successful appellants are two 2023 Bronze drivers in the FIA WEC’s GTE Am class, Ahmad Al Harthy and Sarah Bovy were both initially upgraded to Silver, both now return to Bronze for 2024.
Successfully appealing against a Gold ranking has been Sean Gelael who returns to a Silver ranking, Rui Andrade though retains his allocated 2024 Gold ranking after his appeal as does Scott Huffaker and Josh Pierson.
Alex Quinn whilst now listed as a Gold apparently leaving United Autosports to source a replacement Silver for their IMSA programme, the young Briton assessed out of the regular process after initially retaining his Silver ranking. (Update – Quinn’s upgrading decision was assessed late – his appeal is still underway)
Marino Sato was not initially named as under review but he too is reclassified as a Gold, both United’s IMSA-nominated Silvers then are upgraded!
Also assessed apparently out of the process is IMSA GTD Champion Madison Snow, he moves from Silver to Gold ahead of his GTD Pro effort next season.
The full list of categorisations and changes can be found in the downloadable pdf from this page.
