Four New Cars Added To Full-Season Asian Le Mans Entry

0

With the European Le Mans Series in the rear-view mirror, the ACO’s focus shifts to the Asian Le Mans Series season opener in December.

An updated entry list, featuring 39 cars, has been released today, with additions in each class. Four new cars have been added to the original 36-car list, while one car has dropped off, Kessel Racing’s previously listed Ferrari 296 GT3.

Originally the maximum grid size for the full season was said to be 36 cars due to paddock limitations at Sepang, but behind the scenes, a solution has been found. DSC understands that after conversations with circuit officials, a change to the paddock layout has allowed the series to add three cars to the entry.

LMP2 will see the addition of a second ORECA 07 from the newly-crowned ELMS LMP2 Champion, Algarve Pro Racing.

LMP3 meanwhile, expands to five cars with the Malaysian out Viper Niza Racing switching from GT to LMP3 with a Ligier JS P320. LMP3 will also see the addition of a new team, Bretton Racing from the Czech Republic. The class is expected to grow further when the series visits the UAE in February 2024.

In GT, Attempto Racing returns to the series with a pair of Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO 2s, making the total in the class an impressive 23 cars.
