SC has resolved a 30-year-old dispute over compensation rates for landowners near Noida's Sector 18 commercial area. Utilizing its powers under Article 142 of the Constitution, the court established a uniform compensation rate of Rs 403 per square yard to address inconsistencies from previous rulings. Initially, the Allahabad High Court set the rate at Rs 340 per square yard, which was upheld in 2014, but a 2017 Supreme Court decision raised it to Rs 449 per square yard for another group of landowners, causing further disputes.
