Rupee weakens close to its record low, closes 83.650 against US dollar

The rupee weakened despite a decline in the dollar index. The dollar index stood at 103.83, after declining to a four-month low of 103.6 in the previous session, according to LSEG Data. “The market has priced in a 100% 25 basis point rate cut in September, so the dollar index had to fall”, a foreign exchange dealer said.

JSW Infrastructure reports Rs 295 crore net profit, down 8.5%

During the quarter, the company handled cargo volumes of 27.8 million tonnes which is higher by 9% over the last year. A research paper by RBI economists has found that the net financial wealth (NFW) of Indian households is still higher than pre-pandemic levels, at 97% as of March 2023. The total household financial assets are estimated at Rs 363.8 lakh crore, equivalent to 135.0% of the GDP, while the outstanding liabilities amount to ₹101.8 lakh crore, accounting for 37.8% of GDP.
