Bank lending slows across sectors, rises for industries

Loans to industry rose by 8.1% YoY as of the fortnight ended November 29, 2024, compared to 5.5% for the corresponding fortnight of the previous year. Among the major industries, credit to 'chemicals and chemical products', 'infrastructure', 'petroleum, coal products and nuclear fuels', and 'all engineering' recorded a higher growth, the RBI said in a release.

According to the latest ETIG analysis of the ET 500 list, there were 20 companies that reported higher net profit in the first-half of FY25 compared with the profit for the entire previous year. The list includes companies across sectors including Vedanta, Bharti Airtel, Tata Chemicals, Zomato, Dilip Buildcon, Ashoka Buildcon, Aster DM, Jubilant Pharmova, Voltas, and Texmaco Rail among others.

Vodafone Idea (Vi) aims to launch 5G mobile broadband service in March 2025 with competitively priced plans. Vi will initially roll out 5G in India's top 75 cities, focusing on industrial hubs and high data usage zones. The company plans to enhance 4G coverage and invest in dealer commissions to attract customers from Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel.

GST collection growth slows in December show
