INDIA bloc is unlikely to contest the Lok Sabha Speaker's post, with the NDA nominee expected to be elected unopposed. The Opposition has demanded the choice to pick the deputy speaker, but Defence Minister Rajnath Singh did not assure them on this issue. Efforts are being made to build a consensus among opposition leaders as the NDA candidate prepares to file his nomination.
