A Pakistan district court rejected the appeals of former prime minister Imran Khan and his spouse Bushra Bibi to suspend their sentences in the illegal marriage case, known as the Iddat case. They were sentenced to seven years in jail and fined Rs 500,000 each on February 3 for marrying during the iddat period, which is the mandatory waiting period after a Muslim woman's divorce or husband's death.
