Union Minister Nitin Gadkari suggested that two-wheeler manufacturers should offer helmets to buyers at a discount or reasonable rate, given the high number of fatalities from road accidents due to a lack of helmets. In 2022, 50,029 people died in India in accidents where helmets were not used.
