Sanjay Kumar Verma, a 1990-batch IPS officer, has been appointed as Maharashtra's new Director General of Police (DGP), replacing Rashmi Shukla. The Election Commission of India directed Shukla's removal following complaints from opposition parties alleging her involvement in phone tapping.
