Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has seen procurement rise nearly 50% to over Rs 4 lakh crore during April-January of this fiscal year, driven by increased activity from ministries and departments. The GeM portal, launched in 2016, has added new service categories, enabling efficient procurement. Coal, Defence, Petroleum, Power, and Steel ministries were the top procurers.
