NASA is developing the Near-Earth Object (NEO) Surveyor, a $1.4-billion infrared telescope designed to detect asteroids and comets that could pose a threat to Earth. Expected to launch in 2027, the mission aims to identify 90% of potentially hazardous space rocks within a decade. The spacecraft will use infrared imaging to spot asteroids invisible to ground telescopes, improving planetary defence strategies.
