China’s Vice Commerce Minister Sheng Qiuping met Walmart executive Dan Bartlett on October 16, encouraging the US retailer to expand its procurement from China, the commerce ministry said. The meeting comes after Walmart had reportedly pressured Chinese suppliers to lower prices during the US-China trade war in April to offset tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump.
