New VAR room at Lissone | Rocchi: ‘There will be the best referees’
Refereeing designator Gianluca Rocchi assures the ‘best referees’ will be in the new VAR room. ‘We choose who can guarantee a high level’.
Serie A refereeing designator Rocchi, who is a former referee from the Italian top flight, spoke about the next step forward for VAR in the country.
The League has decided to centralise VAR at the new production centre in Lissone and Rocchi believes it’s a step forward for the referees.
“It’s an avant-garde centre, living in the professionalism in a centre like this gives value,” Rocchi said at Lisson, according to PagineRomaniste.
“It goes without saying that counting in a centre where you can have a direct confrontation with a supervisor and the arbitration commission is of great value, because we avoid dispersion and give immediate feedback.
“We can afford to have the best referees in a couple of games every week. On November 18 there will be a rally here, we are only choosing those who can guarantee a high level.
“Slowly, we expect everyone to come, but today, only the high-level professionals. It can be an incentive to do better.
“I’m convinced that the lads have great quality, I ask you to support them because they are good. Many times, we criticise them, but they must be supported, they will be wrong because it’s normal, but giving us a chance means bringing Italy back to the top also for the referees.
“The goal is to bring six referees back to the top in Europe, because I’m convinced they make a good impression in Italian football.”
