France started proceedings to suspend online fast-fashion retailer Shein after childlike sex dolls and weapons were found being sold on its site, marring the opening of the company's first shop in a Paris department store. Speaking on FRANCE 24, Nick Rees-Roberts, Professor of Media and Culture at the Sorbonne, says that Shein's model is one of 'extreme obsolescence and plagiarism' pointing to a 'global consumer capitalism that is dysfunctional'.
