How many Grammy Album of the Year winners went back-to-back?
The 67th Grammy Awards get underway on Sunday night, bringing together all the biggest stars in music for a night of celebration and festivities. There will be huge performances, and there is a lot of deliberation around who will win the coveted Album of the Year award.
Beyoncé has a chance to win her first AOTY for Cowboy Carter, while Billie Eilish and Charli XCX will hope to hear their names for Hit Me Hard And Soft and BRAT, respectively. But singer-songwriter Taylor Swift will be looking to make history once again in the category with her 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department.
Last year, Swift became the first ever artist to win four career Album of the Year Grammys, taking home the trophy for Fearless (2010), 1989 (2016), Folklore (2021) and Midnights (2024). Now, she has the chance to join an elite club — and become the only female artist — to have won Album of the Year in back-to-back years.
To this point, only Frank Sinatra (September of My Years in 1966 and A Man and His Music in 1967) and Stevie Wonder (Innervisions in 1974 and Fulfillingness’ First Finale in 1975) have accomplished the feat. Could Swift join them Sunday night?
The Grammys air at 8 p.m. ET on CBS and Paramount+.
