How much did Mattress Mack bet on the 2025 Super Bowl?
It’s been a while since we last heard about one of those astoundingly large sports bets by Houston-area furniture store magnate Jim McIngvale, better known as Mattress Mack, but there’s a reason why — and it’s not because he suddenly stopped betting.
McIngvale underwent open-heart surgery in December and required a follow-up fluid-removal procedure a couple weeks later. So, if he has been betting, that hasn’t exactly been a priority of his to fill us in on the action.
That said, McIngvale seems to be progressing well post-surgery based on his Instagram updates, and in January, he finally publicized some unsurprising action he had on the Texas Longhorns.
In early December, McIngvale bet $1.5 million on Texas to win the CFP national championship and another $500,000 on Texas to win the SEC championship, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. The Longhorns failed to do either, losing that $2 million for McIngvale, though his bets typically just reduce the risk on his furniture promotions.
Did Mattress Mack bet on the Super Bowl?
So, you may be wondering what that means for the Super Bowl. Well, so far nothing. There hasn’t been word yet on if McIngvale bet on the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs.
It is worth noting he did not bet on the Super Bowl last year when the Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers, but he was apparently planning to bet big on the Chiefs. He just waited too long and the stakes became too high to be worth his investment. It was a change of heart from 2020, when he lost $3 million betting against the Chiefs throughout their playoff run to the championship.
