Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Carson Wentz might not play in the 2025 Super Bowl as his team’s backup behind Patrick Mahomes.

However, he’s in an incredibly unique situation to get one over on the team that traded him away and the quarterback who replaced him.

Wentz joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016 as the second overall pick in that year’s NFL Draft. He won a Super Bowl with Philadelphia in 2017, though one where he was on injured reserve and his backup, Nick Foles, forged his legend by beating the New England Patriots.

After five seasons, Wentz fell out of favor with the Eagles traded him to the Indianapolis Colts in 2021, the year after Philadelphia drafted his successor in quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Now, Hurts and the Eagles will attempt to win the Super Bowl with their second appearance in three years. Guess who is on the opposite sideline?
