Why the 2025 Super Bowl gives Carson Wentz a very unique chance at revenge
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Carson Wentz might not play in the 2025 Super Bowl as his team’s backup behind Patrick Mahomes.
However, he’s in an incredibly unique situation to get one over on the team that traded him away and the quarterback who replaced him.
Wentz joined the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016 as the second overall pick in that year’s NFL Draft. He won a Super Bowl with Philadelphia in 2017, though one where he was on injured reserve and his backup, Nick Foles, forged his legend by beating the New England Patriots.
SUPER BOWL PREDICTIONS: How the 2025 Super Bowl could go terribly wrong for Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs
After five seasons, Wentz fell out of favor with the Eagles traded him to the Indianapolis Colts in 2021, the year after Philadelphia drafted his successor in quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Now, Hurts and the Eagles will attempt to win the Super Bowl with their second appearance in three years. Guess who is on the opposite sideline?
Wentz is with Kansas City, giving the backup quarterback a chance to watch his old team and the guy who effectively took his job fall to the team he’s playing for in the big game. Talk about a reversal of fortune!
