Brad Stevens reportedly won't be the next head coach at Indiana
Indiana has officially announced that the 2024-25 season will be the last under fourth-year coach Mike Woodson, who will step down at his alma mater following the season.
Now, the search is on to fill the vacancy at one of the most historically successful programs in college basketball, and since the search began, there’s been one clear favored candidate by the Hoosiers fanbase: Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens.
Before his career as an executive, Stevens was a successful head coach in the state of Indiana at Butler, leading the mid-major program to back-to-back national title game appearances. He left to become the head coach of the Boston Celtics, where he made the postseason seven times in eight years before replacing Danny Ainge as president.
Unfortunately for Indiana fans, Stevens reportedly won’t be a candidate for the job. He told Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman that he’s happy with the Celtics, with whom he won the NBA Finals last season and was named the league Executive of the Year.

“I thoroughly appreciate being a Celtic and love the people I get to work with every day,” Stevens told @TheFieldOf68.

“I thoroughly appreciate being a Celtic and love the people I get to work with every day,” Stevens told Goodman.
Indiana is an upper-tier Big Ten job that’s sure to draw interest from quite a few qualified candidates, but it seems a return to coaching at the college level isn’t in the cards for Stevens.
