According to Paul Garcia of The Spot Up Shot, Wemby was well on his way to likely winning DPOY honors. (He was the runaway favorite at -2500.) However, he could only miss 19 games during the rest of the season.

His unfortunate injury will prevent him from meeting the 65-game minimum threshold he needs to be eligible. Wemby’s year ended after just 46 games. (Thankfully, the Spurs are optimistic he’ll return next season).
