Verde Farms brings better beef in so many ways (for a price)
Welcome back to FTW’s Beverage of the Week series. Here, we mostly chronicle and review beers, but happily expand that scope to any beverage that pairs well with sports. Yes, even cookie dough whiskey. And sometimes food, too.
$11 for a pound of ground beef is a lot. In fact, it’s probably something I wouldn’t consider if I weren’t writing a review column. Since I grew up with a terminal case of poor brain, my typical shopping experience would see me default to the cheapest option, remember I am an employed adult, then splurge on the *second-cheapest* option.
But there are levels to beef. Verde Farms promises the highest one — ethically sourced meat from grass-fed cattle, humanely raised across the globe. While I have low standards for my ground chuck, I also have high ones for my steaks, and Verde casts a wide net from burgers to filets. An expensive one, sure, but also one that promises deep, rich flavor and sustainable farms.
Is that just marketing, or does the taste match the price?
