Faces of HR: How Susan Knox Is Steering TBR Global Through Growth
For more than 10 years, Susan Knox has been the steady hand guiding the people strategy at TBR Global Chauffeuring, a company passionate about world-class customer service. Since 2011, she has led TBR’s people function, designing and launching global policies and processes that provide stability and support for the company’s diverse workforce worldwide.
From Back Office to Boardroom
Knox’s commitment to understanding the business goes beyond the HR department. She recently stepped away for a secondee role as a business manager. This hands-on experience gave her a critical, deep-dive perspective into day-to-day operations, allowing her to craft and implement a powerful, people-focused “Drive to 2025” strategy.
Now, back in her role as Head of People and sitting on the Global Leadership Team, Knox is focused on strengthening and engaging the workforce as TBR navigates a period of rapid growth. She is the driving force behind TBR’s commitment to an “all-in” culture that encourages every employee to thrive, both personally and professionally.
The Power of Learning
Knox is a fully qualified HR leader and a champion of continuous growth. After earning her CIPD HR accreditation, she went on to secure two more CIPD qualifications: one in strategic HR and another in learning and development. This advanced training helps her design better training programs and create clearer career pathways that help employees succeed within the company.
So, how did Knox get her start in the field?
“Like many, I initially fell into working in HR,” she admits. “I started my career at 22 as an administrative team leader in a call center, serving major blue-chip clients like Dell and Samsung.”
It was during this time that an opportunity arose to work closely with the HR Manager. “From my initial days in that role, I knew very quickly that this was where I wanted to be,” Knox recalls.
“I was quickly drawn to the people-centric nature of HR; the role felt like a natural fit. By age 24, I had progressed to a standalone HR Manager, overseeing employee relations and recruitment for a workforce of over 100. The chance to engage with different parts of the business, connect with diverse personalities, and help them to grow was incredibly rewarding. I didn’t look back.”
