'Scrubs' Reboot Progressing After Show Overcomes Key Reason for Delay
We’re closer than ever to a reboot of Scrubs nearly 15 years after the original series finale aired.
The hit series premiered on NBC in 2001. It aired on the network for seven seasons before switching over to ABC for two additional seasons. Its run ended in 2010.
Series creator Bill Lawrence and key cast members have been hinting at a possible reboot at ABC since the summer of 2022. However, the plans hit a roadblock earlier this year. A new update revealed that the problem might have been solved, paving the way for things to progress.

Earlier this year, series star Zach Braff explained that Bill was unable to work with ABC, which is owned by Disney, due to an exclusive deal with Warner Bros.
According to reporting by TV Line, Disney struck a deal with Warner Bros. The terms allegedly state that Bill will not be able to work as a showrunner. However, it would enable him to see the Scrubs reboot through.
The next step is to negotiate with the original cast members to return for the show. Though many stars have expressed interest, nothing is official just yet.
