Squid Game was a surprise success when it was released on Netflix in September 2021 and became the streaming service’s most-watched series of all time, a title it still holds today.

While the first season contained nine episodes, the second season consists of just seven episodes. Hwang Dong-hyuk returned to write and direct the entire season.

All 7 episodes in the second season of Squid Game will debut on Netflix on Thursday, December 26. The episodes will be added at 3am ET / 12am PT, so you’ll have to stay up very late on Christmas night if you want to watch them immediately upon premiere.

Here’s a season two synopsis: “Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 gave up going to the states and comes back with a new resolution in his mind. Gi-hun once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of 456 billion won.”
