'Andor' - Shocking Disney+ TV Show Production Costs Revealed!
Andor is going all out with the budget.
The Star Wars series, which is set to premiere its second season in 2025, has run up a massive production cost for Disney/Lucasfilm, via Deadline.
The production cost of Season 2 alone will be over $290 million, which is more than the production cost of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in 2019, at approximately $275 million, the outlet reports.
The total production cost for Andor’s two seasons is at over $645 million.
The Andor production cost numbers come from Forbes, citing a U.K. financial report required from productions taking advantage of tax rebates in the country.
Costs on production factor in delays amid the Hollywood strikes in 2023. And because the U.K. filing only covers 2023, and the show started filming in January 2024, the actual production total for the show will be higher.
Creator Tony Gilroy planned the series to be two seasons long, leading the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
The final episode of Season 2 is set to take place “three, four days before the beginning of Rogue One, and then our final scene has always been known, which will be walking him into the first scene of Rogue One,” via Deadline.
