The New York Times Responds to Justin Baldoni $250 Million Lawsuit
The New York Times is addressing Justin Baldoni‘s lawsuit.
Last week, the news outlet published a story after Blake Lively filed a legal complaint against her 40-year-old It Ends With Us co-star/director, accusing him sexual harassment and starting a smear campaign.
Then on Tuesday (December 31), Justin filed a $250 million libel lawsuit against the Times, claiming the paper “‘cherry-picked’ and altered communications stripped of necessary context and deliberately spliced to mislead.”
A spokesperson for the NY Times has now released a statement reacting to the lawsuit.
Keep reading to find out more…“The role of an independent news organization is to follow the facts where they lead,” the spokesperson shared, via Variety. “Our story was meticulously and responsibly reported. It was based on a review of thousands of pages of original documents, including the text messages and emails that we quote accurately and at length in the article.”
The statement continued, “To date, Wayfarer Studios, Mr. Baldoni, the other subjects of the article and their representatives have not pointed to a single error. We published their full statement in response to the allegations in the article as well. We plan to vigorously defend against the lawsuit.”
On the same day Justin sued The New York Times, Blake, 37, formally filed a lawsuit against Justin that was based on the claims made in her previous complaint.
