Actor Steve Guttenberg Is Helping Emergency Crew Amid Pacific Palisades Fires

Steve Guttenberg is one of the many people trying to help amid the raging fires in Los Angeles, which began on Tuesday (January 7).

The 66-year-old Police Academy star is among those who are trying to help out amid the damage and destruction. Over 30,000 people have already evacuated, with many people losing their homes, including some well known stars.

Steve was seen wearing a baseball cap with a facemask in an interview with KTLA, as he urged people leaving their cars behind to also leave their keys, making it easier to move their cars so emergency vehicles like fire trucks can get through.

“What’s happening is people take their keys with them as if they’re in a parking lot. This is not a parking lot. We really need people to move their cars,” he said. “If you leave your car behind, leave the key in there so a guy like me can move your car so that these fire trucks can get up there.”

“There are people stuck up there. So we’re trying to clear Palisades Drive and I’m walking up there as far as I can moving cars,” he added, pointing out families and pets who “really need help.”

“It’s really, really important,” he added.

“Don’t worry about your personal property. Just get out. Get your loved ones and get out.”

“You’re an actor… You look familiar to me now,” the reporter said before Steve confirmed.

A rep for the actor has since spoken out to People. saying he is doing “okay” and confirmed he was “trying to help.”
