Oscars 2025 Nominations Announcement Delayed Amid Los Angeles Wildfires, Voting to Be Extended

The announcement of the upcoming 2025 Oscar nominations is being delayed!

Academy voting started on Wednesday morning (January 8) for members to cast their votes, and THR is now reporting that the end of voting is now being pushed back in light of the wildfires in Los Angeles.

According to a letter to Academy members acquired by THR, given a majority of the Academy members live in LA with many potentially being affected by the fires, they are extending the voting window to 5pm PT on Tuesday, January 14th. This is a two-day extension as it was originally to close on Sunday (January 12).

With this, the nominations were originally scheduled to be announced on Friday, January 17th, but will now be moved to Sunday, January 19th.

Other events hosted by the Academy in the coming days have also been canceled or postponed, among many other Hollywood events and productions.

The 2025 Oscars themselves, are not scheduled until March 10th on ABC with host Jimmy Kimmel.

If you missed it, this weekend’s Critics Choice Awards were postponed in light of the wildfires, and the SAG Awards nominations were also just announced.
