Jean Smart Calls for TV Networks to Not Air Awards Shows Amid California's Devastating Fires
Jean Smart is speaking out amid California’s devastating fires.
The 73-year-old Hacks star took to social media on Wednesday (January 8) with a proposal as Hollywood enters awards season – she wants television networks not to air the awards shows.
She explained why, calling for the networks to use the funds to help those who are being impacted by the natural disasters.

“With ALL due respect, during Hollywood’s season of celebration, I hope any of the networks televising the upcoming awards will seriously consider NOT televising them and donating the revenue they would have garnered to victims of the firefighters,” she wrote in a post on Instagram.
Awards season kicked into high gear with the 2025 Golden Globes, which occurred on January 5.
Earlier in the day, the 2025 Critics Choice Awards were postponed. They were supposed to air on January 12 and will now take place on January 26.
