Jennifer Tilly Clarifies How Much Money She Has After Revealing 'The Simpsons' Royalties on 'RHOBH'
Jennifer Tilly is opening up about her wealth.
The 66-year-old actress made a big revelation on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this season – she revealed she gets royalties of The Simpsons when she divorced ex-husband Sam Simon, who co-created the long-running, hit animated series.
Jennifer has shown off her wealth on RHOBH, with her multiple houses, her fashion and rare accessories.
Now, the Chucky actress is clarifying just how much money she really has.

“I’m astonished,” she told E! News about the response to her wealth. “Number one, I don’t think of myself as rich. But I guess I’m delusional because I do have several properties and a purse apparently that cost $33,000.”
“I thought everybody knew that I had a piece of The Simpsons,” she added. “It’s not a large piece, but even a little piece is something to write home about.”
She adds she was shocked by the reaction to what she revealed on the show in an episode back in December.
“The thing I was astonished by, people thought that that was fabulous,” Jennifer dished. “They were like, ‘She has a house next door to her house and she bought a $4,000 dress for her doll.’ They’re like ‘high five.’ I thought people would be like, ‘That’s horrible that she spent that much money for a dress for her doll when people are hungry.’ But I think the service that Housewives serves is people like to live vicariously through us.”
“This is why people love Housewives,” she continues. “‘They’re so rich and they can afford all the plastic surgeon that the heart could desire and designer clothes and jewels, but they’re still not happy.’ That is the key to Housewives. Like, ‘Wow, if I had all that wealth, I would be happy.’ But these people, they’re miserable. That’s why people like to watch Housewives.”
Despite her wealth, Jennifer insists she and her boyfriend live humbly.
“My boyfriend and I live very simply and a very small cluttered house,” she said. “Yes, there’s a giant house next door, but we don’t go there. I guess we’re kind of delusional. I don’t have a giant mansion or a chauffeur that calls me Miss Tilly and makes out with me like Sutton [Stracke]‘s chauffeur. I just live my life the way that I used to live.”
That rare purse she flaunted on the show that was said to be worth $33,000?
“Actually, it didn’t it cost $33,000, which I’m just setting that straight right now,” Jennifer said. “They must have had some intern look it up. It’s very rare, maybe on the secondary market they jacked up the price but I called my purse contact and I said, ‘How much did I pay for that purse?’ She said, ‘$22,000.’”
