Liam Payne's Friend Roger Nores Sues Late Singer's Father Geoff For Defamation
Liam Payne‘s father Geoff is now being sued.
The late singer’s friend Roger Nores, who was charged in his death, has filed a lawsuit against Geoff for defamation.

Roger filed suit on Wednesday (January 15) in Florida, claiming Geoff‘s sworn statements to Argentinian officials were “false, contained material omissions, and many parts were not based on personal knowledge,” and after being shared to the media, have caused him “injury” and damages over $10 million.
He also alleged that Geoff‘s statements were “accessed by persons in the Palm Beach County/Florida” and caused him harm in those locations.
In the lawsuit, Roger says his friendship with Liam was misrepresented and he “never agreed to be a caretaker of Liam… did not have a legal duty to Liam,” and that they were just “dear friends.”
In a statement to Rolling Stone, Roger says all the proceeds from the lawsuit will be donated to Liam‘s son Bear.
“Geoff needs to backtrack on his [sworn] statement as he very well knows I wasn’t Liam’s nurse or caretaker,” Geoff said. “Liam, who I miss every day, was my dear friend and an independent, brilliant, respectful free man who did whatever he wanted whenever he wanted.”
According to the lawsuit, Roger sent a defamation retraction letter to Geoff‘s attorney’s, and in response, Geoff‘s counsel declined and alleged he was “seeking to interfere with a police investigation by pressuring [Geoff] to change his evidence,” and they would “bring his actions to the attention of the Argentinian authorities.”
“The Estate could not take this matter more seriously,” the response letter from Geoff‘s attorneys states. “It has therefore taken the decision to support [Geoff] in this matter. [Geoff] denies, in the strongest possible terms, that he has defamed or otherwise caused any harm to your client (in the manner set out by your correspondence of 8 January 2025 or otherwise).”
Liam‘s estate also says the lawsuit’s intent of donating proceeds to Bear is “pointless” and would cause “irreparable damage” to the child.
Last month, five people were charged in connection to Liam‘s death, including Roger and employees at the hotel where he was staying.
Roger‘s was charged with negligent homicide, which is a lowered charge from the initial “abandonement followed by death” charge, that could have carried a up to a 15-year sentence. Since the charges, Roger has reportedly unable to leave Argentina amid the investigation.
Previously, Roger has claimed Liam was “close to death” multiple times and defended himself against the initial charge.
