Gabriel Basso Says It's 'Kind of Weird' to Have Played JD Vance in 'Hillbilly Elegy'
Gabriel Basso is looking back at playing now-Vice President JD Vance.
If you didn’t know, the 30-year-old The Night Agent actor played a younger version of the 40-year-old politician in the 2020 movie adaption of Vance‘s memoir Hillbilly Elegy. The movie, directed by Ron Howard, also starred Glenn Close and Amy Adams.
In a new interview, Gabriel opened up about meeting Vance while working on the movie.
Keep reading to find out more…“It’s kind of weird to be included in that timeline,” Gabriel told Variety about now having a small part of American political history.
“When he’s thinking about his life — they made a movie of his book, and my name will always be in the description,” Gabriel continued. “We talked a little bit. He’s a cool dude. We’re both from the Midwest. We just talked about life — about growing up in the woods.”
Variety noted in their article that Gabriel “sidestepped” when asked about Vance‘s beliefs.
In another recent interview, Gabriel explained why he prefers to do all of his own stunts for The Night Agent.
