Justin Baldoni Fights Back Against Blake Lively's Request for Gag Order

Justin Baldoni and his legal team are fighting back against Blake Lively‘s request to put a gag order on him.

The actors have both filed lawsuits against each other, both claiming that they engaged in smear campaigns to ruin their reputations after issues that happened on set.

After Justin‘s team released nearly 10 minutes of raw footage from the filming of It Ends With Us, Blake‘s legal team accused them of improper conduct for “selectively releasing evidence” to the media. They requested a protective order against lawyer Bryan Freedman in hopes of preventing him from making more statements to the press that could prejudice a jury.

Blake‘s legal team said there is “imminent harm caused by Mr. Freedman’s misleading and selective statements and leaks.”

Now, Justin‘s team is responding through legal documents.

THR reports that Kevin Fritz, another lawyer on Justin‘s team, claimed that they are protecting their client from Blake‘s media campaign.

Justin‘s team “argues there’s an exception to the rule that permits statements necessary to protect clients from fallout over negative publicity that they didn’t instigate.”

The legal letter they filed on Thursday (January 23) states, “Having publicly made ruinous allegations that the Wayfarer Parties can prove are false, the Lively Parties now invoke attorney disciplinary rules as an intimidation tactic. The Lively Parties’ desire to force the Wayfarer Parties to defend themselves privately against allegations made publicly is not a proper basis for a gag order. It is tactical gamesmanship, and it is outrageous.”
