Dave Franco & Alison Brie Reveal 1 Thing They Never Do When Working Together

The married couple and co-stars were joined their writer and director Michael Shanks for the event, which was held during the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.

While attending another event over the weekend, Dave and Alison dished on what it’s like working together and revealed something that they never do on set when filming.

“We love it and we want to keep going,” Dave told Variety. “As long as people let us keep doing it, we feel like we’re getting away with something. For whatever reason, we work really well together. When we’re acting together, we’re so comfortable with each other and we can take more risks with the material. If one of us has an inauthentic moment the other sees it right away, so we have to do our best work.”

While on set together, Alison said, “We’re never giving each other notes because…it’s just like ew, I can tell that was false and I know Dave knows.”

This isn’t the first time they’ve worked together, and it’s actually their fifth project, following Somebody That I Used to Know, The Rental, The Disaster Artist, and The Little Hours.

“We don’t want to burn people out on us,” Dave said of working apart. “It’s nice to go off and then get excited again about working together.”

“It’s helpful in maintaining our own independence. Plus, I love watching Dave’s work,” Alison added. “So it’s fun when you go off and do your own work because it’s a treat for me to watch it. Also, it’s good to work with other people who you are not married to and have new experiences. These are good things for one’s life.”

Speaking of separate projects, Alison is set to star in the upcoming Masters of the Universe live-action adaptation!

While at Sundance, Dave reacted to fans wanting him to play Luigi Mangione on screen.
