Josh Gad Talks 'Frozen 3,' Reveals Why It's Not Coming Out Until 2027
Josh Gad is sharing an update on the upcoming third Frozen movie!
The actor voices the lovable snowman Olaf in the Disney movie franchise, and is set to reprise his role for the next installment. A fourth movie is also in the works, as they are splitting the story into two films.
It’s been almost three years since Frozen 3 was first announced, and a little more than a year since work began on the threequel. While production on the movie is underway, it’s still going to be over two more years before it’s even released in theaters!
In a new interview, Josh opened up about why it’s taking so long for the movie to come out. If you recall, there were six years between the first two movies, and the third will come out eight years after the second.

“Anything that I have seen or know I will have been sworn to secrecy on,” he teased on the SiriusXM podcast, The Spotlight with Jessica Shaw.
“Here’s what I can tell you,” he said. “There’s a reason the movie is coming out in 2027. And that is because no one wants to rush this. Everyone wants this to not just be a sequel or a money grab. They want this to be absolutely worthy of the story we set out to make in 2013 [in the first Frozen movie].”
“And we want to give audiences something that is worth the years of waiting and years of anticipation,” Josh continued. “And I know that they are actively working on that. And I know that they have a story that they are very, very, very excited about.”
“And beyond that, I think I’ll have Disney lawyers knocking down my door. But buckle up because I think they have something incredible in store,” he added.
Frozen 3 is currently scheduled to be released on November 24, 2027.
