Will Smith Channels 'The Matrix' in 'Beautiful Scars' Music Video, Announces First Album in 20 Years
Will Smith entered The Matrix alongside Big Sean in the music video for his new single “Beautiful Scars.”
The 56-year-old movie star and musician also shared some big music news: He has a new album called Based On a True Story, his first in 20 years, coming out this spring!
On Thursday (January 30), he rolled out a taste of the album in the form of his new single, which discusses the challenges of fame and moving on from past mistakes. In the accompanying music video, Will and Big Sean channeled the iconic film series The Matrix, which he once turned down a starring role in.

Based On a True Story is Will‘s first full-length album since 2005′s Lost and Found. It will feature previously released songs “You Can Make It,” “Work of Art” and “TANTRUM.”
An official release date has not been announced yet. However, it is expected to arrive sometime in March. We’ll update you as we learn more.
The “Beautiful Scars” music video comes just a few weeks after Will sparked rumors that he would be appearing in the upcoming fifth The Matrix movie. He did so by sharing a video talking about turning down the role of Neo in the original The Matrix. The role ultimately went to Keanu Reeves.
