Demi Moore Explains Why She Feels 'Fortunate' for Her Oscar-Nominated Film 'The Substance'

Demi Moore gets real about filming the “bonkers” horror movie, The Substance.

The 62-year-old actress sat down for an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday (February 4) and opened up about her role in the critically acclaimed movie, where she plays the lead character, Elizabeth Sparkles.

“This is anchored in something that is so human. That pursuit of perfection, that compare and despair, there’s something that we all connect with. And I felt like that it was my job, to anchor it in reality so it can go to those wild, bonkers places,” Demi told Jimmy about the movie’s themes of self acceptance.

“How fortunate do I feel that I made a movie that’s got people in the theaters for a communal experience, but is also getting critical acclaim?” she added.
