Kanye West Reveals Autism Diagnosis, Says Wife Bianca Censori Helped With Health Revelation

Kanye West opened up about his health in a new interview, and he revealed that he had been diagnosed with autism.

If you were unaware, the 47-year-old “Monster” rapper was previously diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2016. However, he said that he received an updated diagnosis recently with help from his wife Bianca Censori.

While on The Download podcast, Kanye revealed that Bianca encouraged him to make an appointment with a doctor, who he claimed Justin Bieber had seen.

“My wife took me to do that because she said, ‘Something about your personality doesn’t feel like it’s bipolar. I’ve seen bipolar before.’” he said. “And come to find out, it’s really a case of autism that I have.”

Kanye continued, explaining how the diagnosis helped him understand previous behavior.

“You’re like, ‘Oh man, I’m gonna wear this Trump hat ‘cause I just like Trump in general. And then when people tell you to not do it you just get on that one point. And that’s my problem, when fans tell me to do my album a certain way, I’ll do it the opposite way just because…”

He added that people would try to help him. However, it left him feeling out of control, which he said “spun me out of control.”

The rapper said that he is not currently taking medication.

“I haven’t taken the medication since I found out that it wasn’t bipolar, that it wasn’t the right diagnosis,” he said, adding that with medicine he is looking for something “that doesn’t block the creativity.”

He continued, saying, “Obviously, that’s what I bring to the world. You know, it’s worth the ramp up, as long as y’all get the creativity.”

In 2019, Kanye opened up about what it was like to experience a bipolar episode.

Bianca recently caused controversy by wearing a very sheer outfit on the red carpet at the 2025 Grammys. After the fact, a lip reader revealed what Kanye allegedly told her while they posed for photos together.
