Twilight‘s popularity made the role of Jacob Black one of the hottest in Hollywood when the movies were first announced, and the role ultimately sent Taylor Lautner‘s career into overdrive when he booked it.

The 33-year-old actor played the popular young werewolf who vied for Bella Swan’s (Kristen Stewart) heart across five movies, starting with the first in 2008.

He beat out quite a few actors to land the role. However, Taylor actually almost lost the part when it was time to film the second movie.
