Max Developing 'Crazy Rich Asians' Television Show With Members of Movie's Creative Team Involved
A Crazy Rich Asians television show is being developed at Max, and some very important key players from the 2018 movie are involved!
On Friday (February 28), it was revealed that a series based on Kevin Kwan‘s book series of the same name, which also inspired the movie, was in the works.

According to reporting by Variety, Crazy Rich Asians director Jon M. Chu is returning for the show as an executive producer. The movie’s co-writer Adele Lim will be back as the showrunner and will work as another executive producer. Additionally, Kevin will be involved with the project as an executive producer.
The outlet noted that it is currently unclear if the show will make use of any of the actors who appeared in the movie. The movie starred the likes of Constance Wu, Henry Golding, Gemma Chan and Michelle Yeoh and was viewed as a critical success.
There were previously plans to develop a theatrical sequel to Crazy Rich Asians. However, updates about it have been scarce over the years. While promoting Wicked in November 2024, Jon revealed where the movie stood.
