Scarlett Johansson Explains Why She's Not on Instagram, Even Though 'Jurassic World' Execs Asked Her to Join

Nope, Scarlett Johansson is not on Instagram and she also has no plans in the future to join the social media app.

The 40-year-old Oscar-nominated actress is opening her decision to stay off social media, despite executives behind her beauty brand The Outset and her movie Jurassic World: Rebirth all trying to get her to join.

So, how close to joining did she ever get?

“I got close enough to talk to my therapist about it. I was like, I guess this is something I need to do. But it goes against my core values,” Scarlett told InStyle. “I think it was more about: How do I express that, too? Because there’s so much expectation from…”

“I mean, even today, I got an email from Universal [Pictures], and they’re like, ‘Hey, would you consider joining Instagram in tandem with the release of Jurassic World: Rebirth?’ [I] get a lot of pressure to join social media,” Scarlett added.

She pondered, “Is there a way I could do this and stay true to who I am? It didn’t feel like I could.”

Despite not having her own account, Scarlett will sometimes appear on her company The Outset’s page.
