'Will Trent' Season 3: New Character Won't Make Any Additional Appearances, Not Officially Confirmed for Season 4
Will Trent continues its jam-packed third season on ABC tonight with an all-new episode…but don’t expect to see Gina Rodriguez‘s character back anytime soon.
If you don’t know, Gina joined season 3 as Marion Alba, Assistant District Attorney, who ended up forming a romantic attachment to Will. They eventually went on a date, but ended up deciding to not continue the relationship by the 12th episode of the season.

The co-showrunner of Will Trent, Liz Heldens, told TV Line, “Marion is not going to resurface before seasons’ end. It’s funny… when we started [Season 3], we were like, ‘Oh, 18 episodes is the biggest order we’ve ever done!’ And then when we got to the end, we were like, ‘We don’t have enough runway for everybody.’”
“I think that Gina Rodriguez is wonderful. She pops off the screen. We love her,” Liz added.
However, it doesn’t look like she’s fully confirmed to return for season four at this point. Liz shared, “It was an amazing experience to work with her, and I wouldn’t rule out her coming back in Season 4 at all.”
