Bowen Yang, Lily Gladstone, Kelly Marie Tran and Han Gi-chan hit the red carpet for the premiere on Monday night (April 14) at AMC The Grove 14 in Los Angeles.
The cast was joined by director Andrew Ahn. One day earlier, all of them, except for Bowen, attended a drag brunch to celebrate the movie. See those photos in the gallery!
The movie is a remake of the 1993 Chinese film of the same name in which two couples who are friends help each other out with family, while navigating cultural expectations and more.
In a new interview, Bowen opened up about how the original film connects to his own coming out story.

“It ends on this very uncertain tone, where he says bye to his parents, who know who he is now,” he told Bustle. “There’s a moment of affection, then it’s awkward. And that was something I had to be in bed with, because I was just like, ‘See, this is my life. I love my parents, I know that to be true, but I also can’t extrapolate what the future’s going to be with me and them about this.’”
Bowen said that his parents are supportive of his sexuality today. “They don’t want to hear all the nitty gritty sh*t, but they’re asking if I’m dating anybody. I never thought it would get to that point,” he said.
The Wedding Banquet is set to premiere in theaters on April 18. Watch the trailer now!
