The 32-year-old Brat superstar is recognizing the song’s recent viral explosion onTikTok, as hundreds of thousands of people have been making videos set to the song originally released on her May 2020 project, how i’m feeling now.
The pandemic album was recorded over a period of five weeks, and incorporated fan participation and feedback in the making of the record.
“Party 4 U” has since become an unexpected hit, hitting the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this month and reaching a current high of No. 55 on the Hot 100 chart.
In an Instagram post yesterday, she explained that she was releasing the video as a celebration of the album turning five years old.
“It honestly just feels like yesterday,” she wrote.
“So much has changed since then. Me, my life, elements of my music and most definitely the world. I made the album in just 5 weeks, from conception to release, entirely publicly in collaboration with all of you. It was so special. I felt like I rediscovered myself, my sanity + my sense of connection with the world, at a time where we were all so alone. To create with all of you helped me feel OK. It was all of us at our most raw, our most stripped, our most vulnerable. I will never forget it, and I really can’t believe that 5 years later one of the angel favorites is having its own special moment. So obviously I wanted to do something to celebrate… This ones for you angels. Love, Charli.”
