Here’s a synopsis: “She’s a global powerhouse with billions of streams, chart-topping hits, and fans around the world — but Rebbeca reveals the woman behind the phenomenon. This intimate yet electrifying documentary pulls back the curtain on Becky G, one of Latin music’s most influential and fearless stars, as she embarks on her most personal project to date: her debut Mexican regional album. Shot with unprecedented access, the film follows Becky at a pivotal moment in her career and life, capturing raw emotional truths about love, family, loss, addiction, and resilience. Through deeply personal moments and powerful musical milestones, Rebbeca shows how Becky G has used her voice — and her roots — to break barriers and build a legacy. More than just a portrait of a superstar, Rebbeca is a celebration of cultural pride, artistic evolution, and the unbreakable bond between music and identity.”
Becky began the evening giving a speech about the film to the enthusiastic crowd, wearing a stunning yellow Georges Hobeika dress before making a quick change into a white gown for the Q&A with directors Gabriella Cavanagh and Jennifer Tixiera, moderated by Tefi Pessoa. The group discussed themes of forgiveness, mental health and addiction, community, as well as immigration amid demonstrations against ICE raids in Los Angeles.
After that, Becky treated the audience to a very special, intimate performance accompanied by musician Ethan Ridings.
The two sat in front of a picture frame-filled wall and performed three songs, including her 2013 viral YouTube hit that started it all, “Becky From the Block,” as well as heartfelt odes to her family from Esquinas and Encuentros: “Querido Abuelo,” and her film’s ending credits song, “GOMEZX4.”
