After a trip to visit his wife in New York, he returned to London, where he was shooting Rebirth, when he received an important call while on set.
“I’m hoisted up on a wire, a hundred feet in the air, doing a stunt, the crew start saying, ‘Get him down, get him down,’” he revealed. When he asked what was going on, he was told his wife was on the phone.
“I’m like, ‘Honey, I’m a little busy,’ “ he said, laughing.
“And my wife’s waters had broken. So then it was a mad dash to get on the last seat on the last plane out of England to get all the way back to the States to be there for the birth, which I very sadly missed.”
He ended up witnessing his daughter’s birth on FaceTime at the airport, “crying my eyes out with all the air hostesses thrusting champagne at me.”
However, the airline delay actually allowed him to see the birth.
“Nearly missed the flight and there was that fateful thing where it was like, do I stay on FaceTime ‘cause I need to see this? Or do I get the plane because I need to get there?” he recalled.
“And then that wonderful — I’ll never forget it — sound came through the airport and they said, ‘Ding-dong, your flight is delayed for 20 minutes,’ and that’s when they said, ‘You have a baby girl.’” Watch him explain above.
He added that his daughter is “always gonna be a dino baby.”
