Camila Cabello honored her grandmother Mercedes Rodriguez at Carlos Eric Lopez‘s 2025 Dia de Muertos Gala in Los Angeles!

The special event, presented by Lexus, was held on Thursday (October 30) and the Grammy-nominated, Cuban-born singer presented Mercedes with the Abuelita Award.

“During this time, I am humbled to bring our Latino communities together to share their stories and support one another on this sacred holiday. We are stronger together,” said Carlos. “We are honored to recognize Mercedes Rodriguez with this year’s Abuelita Award. Our grandmothers are the heart of our families, the storytellers, the caretakers, and the keepers of our traditions.”

The Abuelita Award is particularly special as it honors the “profound influence of grandmothers.”

“This year’s honoree is Camila Cabello’s grandmother, the author Mercedes Rodriguez, as an acknowledgment for the role she has played in Camila’s life and her appreciation of her Latino heritage.”

Other guests in attendance at the event included Nicole Richie, Miguel, Marvel stars Xochitl Gomez and Dafne Keen, Taylor Zakhar Perez of Red White & Royal Blue fame, and Love Victor actor Michael Cimino, among others. Latin musician DannyLux performed live.
